When new ownership took over Capitol Process Services in 2024, the 40-year firm had every advantage except the digital one. Their reputation across the DC, Maryland, and Virginia process-serving market was strong. Their service was excellent. And their website made them invisible in their own home market.
Where they started
By early 2024, Capitol Process Services had the same digital problem most established firms inherit: a website that was technically functional but strategically asleep. Average Google ranking position hovered around 30 — meaning their site sat on page three of search results. Local market traffic was thin. Newer competitors with weaker reputations dominated the searches their buyers actually used.
The intervention
In September 2024, we rebuilt the website end-to-end and put the SEO Master Plan into motion. The rebuild was the foundation: modern, fast, structurally sound, built for search visibility from day one. The plan layered on top — a 90-day priority list, refreshed every quarter, that systematically attacked the gaps between Capitol Process and the businesses ranking ahead of them in their home market.
What changed in 24 months
Year-over-year traffic from the DMV market grew 4× — driven by sustained ranking improvements across the searches their buyers actually run. By May 2026, Capitol Process owned page-one Google visibility across DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
Local market growth (year over year)
- Maryland: 5,304 → 21,988 sessions (+315%)
- Virginia: 3,951 → 16,861 sessions (+327%)
- District of Columbia: 3,074 → 10,697 sessions (+248%)
- Combined DMV total: 12,329 → 49,546 sessions (+302%, a 4× increase)
Search visibility
Average Google ranking position improved from ~30 (page three of results) to ~8 (firmly on page one) over the engagement. Total organic search sessions grew +51% year over year; active users from organic search grew +78%.
Conversion activity since tracking launched (August 2025)
- 5,581 service-request clicks from the website
- 439 phone-call clicks from the website
Why it worked
There wasn’t a silver-bullet moment. There was a 24-month cadence of plan, execute, measure, recalibrate, repeat. Each quarter’s master plan was sharper than the last, tuned on what the previous quarter’s data actually rewarded in the DMV market. That’s the compounding effect the SEO Master Plan is built to produce — and what made Capitol Process the digital leader in their home market, even with newer competitors trying to outspend them.
